At the Lakeside Heart Center, our philosophy is to restore and maintain good heart health through innovative exercise and education programs. Located in the historic Kingsford Professional Building in Oswego, participants are instructed by a medically licensed staff in a safe and supervised exercise environment. The Lakeside Heart Center offers the Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation program and adult fitness classes. The program is certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
We have two primary goals. The first is to help you physically and emotionally recover from a cardiac event. The second goal is to help prevent other heart problems from occurring in the future. These two goals are met through individual education sessions, as well as structured exercise classes that are held three times per week.
In addition to exercise, we also offer guidance about diet, high blood pressure, diabetes, weight management, high cholesterol and other health issues.
Phase II cardiac rehabilitation
Phase II cardiac rehabilitation is a medically supervised, outpatient program for people recently diagnosed with heart problems, e.g., heart attacks, angioplasty, stents and stable angina. Phase II participants exercise three times per week for an hour.
The program may range from 12 to 36 sessions. Emphasis is placed upon improving cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, flexibility, endurance, and physical work capacity. A physician referral is required.
Adult Fitness Program
The Adult Fitness Program is an exercise program for individuals motivated to reduce their cardiovascular risk factors. Each participant is guided through an individualized exercise plan. Participants include spouses of patients in the Phase II program, graduates of the Phase II program, and persons with a history of known heart disease and/or risk factors. This program requires a physician’s referral, and each participant is screened initially before beginning the program.
Our staff can assist you with the preauthorization insurance process. The Adult Fitness Program is a service not generally covered by insurance carriers. Participants pay a nominal fee for each exercise session they attend.
